War on Drugs Gets Desperate, Silly

package-756468.jpgI can’t think of a more ridiculous way to fight the war on drugs than to go after grocery stores, but Chicago has passed an ordinance banning the sale of tiny plastic bags (“self-sealing plastic bags under two inches in either height or width”) used to package small amounts of drugs. Chicago police feel the ordinance will be an “important tool” to go after grocery stores, health food stores and other businesses.

Because, really, the root cause of the drug trade all stems from those evil health food stores who have the audacity to stock their shelves with Glad bags. Now, what the hell are Chicagoans going to package their tiny sandwiches and oregano in?

What’s next? Ban the sale of fishnet stockings to curb prostitution? You could also criminalize the possession of playing cards to prevent illegal gambling.

How will the drug dealers ever work around this massive obstacle?

They should really be going after clothing stores. Those little bags they give you with extra buttons? Perfect size for selling drugs to minors.

Won't dealers just find another way to carry around their drugs?

This initiative seems quite silly to me.

Lisa - not to mention bead and sewing suplly stores. they have MILLIONS of those around. clearly, they are drug dealers, and are patronized by drug dealers, and should be stopped.

Jesus! Who would ever use bags that small? What is it with you kids today?

Eh, um yeah we're the same city that made it illegal to sell fois gras cause it's mean to ducks...so this? it's not so shocking to me.
Shocking = I still live here after 10 years.

Ooh! Ooh! They should outlaw condoms next! I mean, they're traditional drug vessels, and roughly the same size of those little baggies...

Huzzah! I r political genius!
