The Voices in My Head Disagree

barr.jpgYou know what I love about Roseanne Barr? She’s so eloquent. And knowledgeable. And coherent! She recently blogged about her feelings on the upcoming election and, specifically, Barack Obama. And I was just blown away with her mastery of the English language, fountain of political knowledge, and, well, her subtlety. Here, take a look (and here’s a handful of [sic]s to take with you):

barack obama is an empty suit selling “hope” in lieu of Truth. Oprah Winfrey helped to elect Arnold Swartzenegger. I have no doubt that she voted her purse by doing this, as she is a large land owner in California, and that ilk fears Dems because they do not want to pay their “fair share” of Cali tax. Oprah has given us Swartzenegger and Dr. Phil. If that was not offensive enough to decent thinking people, now she brings us Obama. He has no ideas, no plan and nothing to add other than the cynical pacification of the masses with bedtime stories about hope, while calling Unions “special interest groups” that need to be done away with.
Obama votes with Bush constantly funding this terrible endless war. Oprah, you play the race card and the gender card too.
You are a closeted republican and chose Barak Obama because you do not like other women who actually stand for something to working American Women besides glamour, angels, hollywood and dieting!
When Americans find out that Obama backs right wing corporate racist anti worker bullshit, they will not vote for him, and the victory will go to the most racist right wing republican ever…. Mccain, who is a fascist! That the culinary service workers in vegas have promised barak their vote,( he is anti union in his votes) over edwards, who is a pro-union man, just proves how stupid americans are and how they can be tricked so easily by the color of a person’s skin…exactly what MLK hated!
Obama doesn’t even back reproductive rights for any woman! It is historical that Oprah Winfrey, beloved of women, chooses a flashy man with small credentials over a seasoned woman politician with 35 years of experience…and sells that to the female demographic who look to her for inspiration!

Why don’t you run for President, Roseanne? Cause, really, you’re the perfect female role model and it might be fun to have a president in office dumber than our current one.

Dude, she is too busy recording "World of Facts" for those snazzy holographic belts. She has no time for politics!

Why are you dissing Rosie for telling the truth? Little too politically incorrect for you maybe? Sure she has a track record for heart-on-her-sleeve nutty behavior but deep down she knows the score better than most of the more "respectable" pundits. Mark her wise wise words kids if Obama somehow manages to wrangle the nomination and even becomes Prez. Better him than Huckabee but still...

Well, most of what she said is reasonable arguments. It's delivered in the form of a rant, so it lacks transitions - but overall, she makes some really good points.

I really hope McCain doesn't get the nomination for the republicans - he's the only Republican candidate who could beat Hillary or Obama, and he would spell death for our country.

I love that the woman who lives off of Hollywood and has had more plastic surgery than Tori Spelling thinks she speaks for "working American women" who aren't into "glamour, Hollywood and dieting". Why does she continue to try to make us think she's a feminist? Remember her rant about how the word "history" need to be changed to "herstory" to include women? It's no suprise that a woman who clearly knows nothing about etymology and can't be bothered to look into word origins would just fling the word "fascist" around. Maybe if she hates corporate anti-workers so much, she should just donate the money made from sales of her DVDs at Walmart, or better still, not sell them at Walmart.

I love Roseanne, I love her, I grew up with her. TV is desperately missing a family like the Conners. However, she is completely wrong here. Obama has a great record on women's issues. He worked tirelessly in the IL congress to fund sex ed and planned parenthood. Roseanne's entire argument is based on a lie, one being pushed by the Clinton campaign btw and as an avid political watcher, I just want to put the debunk down on this particular smear.

As a woman, I am in no way thrilled that she is running. To quote Chris Rock, "America is ready to vote for a woman, just not that one." Bill set the stage for half of the shit Bush gets away with now. His friend of the middle class BS is just that. Hil was on the board of Wal-Mart and 35 years of being married to a politician is not the same thing as experience. Seriously, if I were laying on an operating table I would want the doctor's wife to perform the operation no matter how long they had been married. At least Obama has 20 years of public service under his belt.

Anyway, I love Roseanne. She is smart, witty, and a great advocate against religious BS and for the middle class. However, in this instance she just happens to be completely wrong.

Cheers.

OMG! Is Roseanne still alive? I thought she died of sheer stupidity years ago.
I am not surprised that she would support Mrs. Clinton, whose "35 years of experience" was being married to one of the nations worst Presidents in decades. Mrs.C herself has had a plethora of legal problems.
But I guess it takes one to know one, Roseanne.
