Must the government always get in the way of good parenting?

ebay2.jpgThere are times when I think it’s ok for the government to get mixed into our personal affairs. If parents are beating their kids, not feeding them, etc., sure — child services needs to step in and do something. But sometimes, it’s best just to let parents be parents. In Germany, however, the stupid authorities just don’t get this, which is why a 7-month-old boy has been taken away from his parents and placed into the care of youth services. All because his parents posted an eBay ad offering to sell the boy for $1.60.

Of course, one wonders whether the German authorities are really pissed about the parents’ attempt to sell the kid (although the parents claim it was a joke) or the fact that they think the German youth was being undervalued.
