I am so smart, I am so smart. S-M-R-T!

kiss-me-smrt.jpgMany might argue that, on the whole, society’s getting dumber by the minute. Well to whatever extent folks are getting dumber, lawyers are getting dumberer!

This, according to some study by the Centre for Market and Public Organisation. Comparing the IQ scores of lawyers born in 1958 and 1970, the study found that the older group did about 11 percent than the average Joe, while the 1970’s group only did 8 percent better. This three-percent drop “was a greater fall than the majority of other professions where the gap narrowed by about 1 percentage point.” So lawyers are still smarter than the average bear, but not by as much as they used to be. Doctors, teachers and bankers all got dumber too, just not as precipitously fast as us law-talking guys. We rule!

it's because they started letting women into the club....

HEY-YOOOOO.

As a lawyer born in 1944, I must be 12% smarter than the 1958 crowd.

So as a lawyer born in the 80's, I'm somewhere around 5% smarter than average? Meh, good enough for me!

Although I am not a lawyer, I am an engineering student born in 81. Its funny because while I am terrible with computers (excel especially cripples me) I am dumbfounded constantly at the inability of my fellow, abet younger students to communicate. I just had a heated argument with an individual over the importance of starting and ending a sentence in the same tense. And don't get me started over their inability to manage their time or money.

Not sure when you were born... but you missed a word:

"the study found that the older group did about 11 percent than the average Joe, while the 1970’s group only did 8 percent better."

In this sentence your use of the word "than" suggests you meant to put the word "better" immediately before it.

I was born in 1980.

This just proves that the smartest people are choosing not to become lawyers!

I PASSED THE NY BAR!!!!
