How can I buy someone’s patent?

To obtain all rights to another’s patent, you can have them assign the patent to you for a negotiated price. This requires the patent holder to prepare a formal assignment and then file that assignment with the PTO. The formal paperwork for the patent will then indicate that the patent has been assigned to you and once the patent has been formally assigned, you will have all the rights that the original patent holder used to have (that is, you can prevent others from making the invention, selling the invention, etc.).
