What is a joint work?

As defined by the Copyright Act, a joint work is a work which two or more authors create, intending the work to be inseparable. Each joint author is a co-owner of the copyright and each therefore has all of the rights that go along with a copyright and can exercise these rights without seeking the permission of the other co- author(s) (unless they have a written agreement that requires permission).
