Damn. That One Smarts.

You gotta hand it to them: The McCain campaign hits those sweet spots occasionally. Granted, it’s a quote that isn’t in the least directed toward Palin, but Ouch. Nevermind that McCain said the same thing about Hillary a while back, apparently there’s no video of that. So, it’s like it didn’t happen.

55 more days. It’s gonna be ugly. And this bit of pain is gonna stick around for a while.

Update: A McCain video does exist.

Dustin - there is video of McCain using that line - they ran it on the Today Show this morning and then Matt Lauer called the McCain campaign out on it. I nearly choked on my oatmeal.

You know what really has me in despair this morning is that a couple of analysts on MSNBC last night pointed out that based on the volume of early voting, especially in swing states, this election is pretty much decided by October 15th. Hold me.

You'll have to excuse the Repubs. They're new to playing the discrimination card and they're getting a little excited.

Fwiw I don't really understand the relevance of the McCain clip. To establish that "putting lipstick on a pig" is an accepted figure of speech? I don't think either one has anything to do with sexism, it has to do with whether Obama was calling Palin a pig. It seems pretty clear that both of them were talking about policies not people. It's possible that Obama or his writers were making sly reference to her comments, but who cares?

I really hate this shit. One person is fit or unfit to govern based on how mean they are because they said something? Fuck off. How does this get coverage? I can't believe people will have what they consider political debates on this. I guess it's all part of the plan to make ideology irrelevant because that stuff is confusing and makes our little heads hurt.

Let's not panic, people. The Republicans HAVE to create manufactured scandals because they can't run on Bush's record. All Obama has to do is keep reminding voters how badly the Republicans have governed. Yes,the Rovebots will try to knock him off-message, but it's up to all of us not to go along. If they can change the subject, we can change it back...so, how exactly will McCain-Palin dig us out of the deep hole Bush-Cheney have dug for America?

Uh.... so, if Obama wasn't referencing Palin, why did the entire audience start cheering?
