What is ReNu with MoistureLoc?
Bausch & Lomb has voluntarily stopped shipments of its ReNu brand contact lens solution with MoistureLoc after a number of people using the product reported serious eye infections. Bausch and Lomb is voluntarily suspending shipments of ReNu with Moisture Loc after federal health officials linked it to a fungal eye infection that can cause temporary blindness. The Centers for Disease Control is looking into more than more than 109 cases of Fusarium keratitis infection in patients in 17 states. Of the 30 patients interviewed so far, 26 said they had used the Bausch & Lomb contact lens solution, or a generic store brand also made by Bausch & Lomb. The company has taken the precaution to withdraw Moisture-Loc contact lens fluid from the local market until tests are completed by the FDA and the Center for Disease Control, although the tests done so far have found that the infection was not directly linked to the Bausch and Lomb product.
If you suffer any symptoms related to the fungal eye infection (sudden blurred vision; unusual redness; eye pain; excessive tearing; or increased sensitivity to light) contact your medical provider immediately, and then Bausch & Lomb. You may qualify for a claim against the manufacturer, so you should also contact a local attorney.
