Am I liable for injuries to my passengers?

It depends. In a small amount of states, a passenger is considered a guest and cannot bring a lawsuit against the driver unless he/she was grossly negligent or if the accident occurred because of willful misconduct. However, in most states, the passenger can recover if the driver was guilty of ordinary negligence leading to the accident that caused the passenger’s injuries. However, be sure to check your insurance policies, as some policies do not cover the injuries of your passengers - in such cases, you may be personally liable and have to pay out of pocket expenses.
