How is a will revoked by a new will or codicil?
While you can revoke a will by physically damaging or destroying it, you can also create a new document which can revoke your will. There are three types of documents you can create to do this, and in all three situations, your creation of that document must meet the general requirements of creating a legally valid will. The three types of documents you can create to revoke your will are: (i) an entirely new will; (ii) a codicil, which is an amendment to your previous will; or (iii) a written document expressing your intent to revoke the old will.
