How can I get a state trademark registration?

To obtain a state trademark registration, you must file the necessary application documents with the appropriate office of the state you want to register in – the process is generally similar to obtaining a federal trademark registration. For most states, the application process is handled by a business or commerce division of the Secretary of State (for example, California trademark registrations are handled by the Business Programs Division of the Secretary of State).
