Do I have to sign a waiver signing away my rights to sue in order to receive severance pay?
If an employer conditions severance pay on the employee signing a waiver, then the employee may have to sign the waiver in order to receive severance. However, that waiver will only be binding in cases where the employee understands the waiver and is given time to consider the waiver before signing. Of course, it is always best to consult an attorney before signing away one’s legal rights.
