Are polygraph tests legal?

Polygraph tests as a part of pre-employment screening are illegal except in the following position, which concern security and safety issues: security guards, law enforcement officers, nuclear power employees, public transportation employees, pharmaceutical employees, or other employees who deal with sensitive information. However, even in these cases, polygraph tests cannot be used to determine a person’s personal political or religious beliefs.
