Am I entitled to health insurance?
No employer is required by law to provide health insurance - at least not yet (the laws are changing in Massachusetts at the time of this writing). However, if your employer does provide health insurance, it must offer the same benefits to all employees, regardless of age or physical disability. Furthermore, where health insurance is mandatory, certain employees cannot be singled out with higher premiums because of age of physical limitations, though preexisting conditions do make it legal for employers to limit coverage. Once an employer does promise health insurance, in writing, those benefits cannot be cancelled, and if insurance companies are changed, the employee must be notified in writing in advance of the change.
