What is the 2006 exemption for the alternative minimum tax?

The exemption for the alternative minimum tax has been increased for 2006. You can get more information about this exemption here, but these are the 2006 numbers:

1. If you are married and filing a separate return, your AMT exemption is $31,275 (increased from 2005’s $29,000).

2. If you are single or filing as head of household, your AMT exemption is $42,500 (increased from 2005’s $40,250).

3. If you are married filing jointly or a qualified widow(er), your AMT exemption is $62,550 (increased from 2005’s $58,000).
