What is my standard deduction if I am a widower?

Generally, if you are a widower your standard deduction for the 2006 tax year will be $10,300. The only instances where this will not be true is where either you or your spouse are blind or 65 or older, or where you can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.
