How much will my divorce cost?
In general, the costs of divorce depend on whether you file for a fault or no fault divorce, and how many assets you have to split, and how difficult it will be to come to a settlement agreement with your spouse. For the most part, most of the costs of a divorce are tied into your legal fees; the longer and messier the divorce, the more expensive. However, if you are filing a no-fault divorce, have no children or property to divide, and little marital assets, the costs of a divorce can be as little as the filing fees, if you do not hire an attorney (filing fees range from state to state, but generally amount to a few hundred dollars, all told).
