If I am convicted of DUI, what will my punishment be?

The sentences for DUI convictions vary from case to case and state to state, but if you are convicted, you can expect one or more of the following consequences: A stiff fine, jail time, suspension of drivers license, alcohol or drug treatment programs, and much higher car insurance rates. Moreover, in some jurisdictions with creative (or wicked) sentencing, you may have to display a bumper stick showing you were convicted of a DUI, have a certified ignition lock installed in your motor vehicle, receive driving restrictions, or community service. Repeat DUI offenders face even stiffer penalties, usually entailing more severe forms of the aforementioned consequences.
