What is “no derivative works?”

Within the context of the Creative Commons, “no derivative works” is one of the components used by the six creative commons licenses. With no derivative works, the author is allowing others to use, copy, display and perform the original copyrighted work, for commercial or non-commercial purposes, but they cannot create or use any derivative works.
