What is an omission of notice?

An omission of notice is where someone fails to include a copyright notice on a published work. For any works created or published after March 1, 1989, copyright notice is not necessary for the work to be entitled to protection, so this omission of notice does not need to be fixed. However, it is a good idea to fix the omission anyway, when you realize you did not include a notice.
