How can I make an insurance claim?
If you suffer some loss or harm which you feel should be protected by an insurance policy, you should immediately start putting together a file of any relevant evidence and information. You should take pictures, get written statements from witnesses, gather receipts relating to lost property, etc. You should also contact your insurance agent as soon as you can so that you can get a claim form to fill out and submit back to the insurance company. For larger business, or for large claims, you should consider having your lawyer help you prepare and file this claim (or even have the lawyer handle it entirely). The reason to move quickly on the insurance claim is because your insurance agreement will require claims to be filed in a specified period of time to be considered valid - however, while you want to be timely, you also don’t want to rush unnecessarily, because you want to be sure that you are able to include all of the information you will later need.
Just remember that you’ll need some patience, because the whole process of making insurance claims is rather frustrating. But at the same time, you should take a strong position in making sure you get what you believe you are entitled to under your insurance policy.
