How secret do I have to keep my trade secret?
The heart of a trade secret is the fact that the information is kept secret and not generally known to the public. As a result, the owner of an alleged trade secret must use reasonable measures and precautions to maintain the information’s secrecy. What amounts to “reasonable” will depend on the given situation. For example, with highly valuable information it would be reasonable to take more precautions than one might take with information that has significantly less value.
