What is a sexual harassment policy?

It is an employer’s responsibility to establish a sexual harassment policy, which should include a clear definition of sexual harassment, a statement of no-tolerance, a compliant procedure, an investigation procedure, and a discipline procedure. Additionally, this policy must be communicated to the employees by such means as an internal memo, employee orientation, employee handbooks, video or workshop presentations, staff meetings, or a sexual harassment training session. The employer should also designate someone to receive sexual harassment complaints; this should be a neutral third person who can properly investigate sexual harassment claims without getting personally involved.
